The Tearing Apart
America hasn’t won a real war,
not since World War II.
But it’s not the winning,
it’s the tearing apart that counts.
It’s moronic; but they find it exciting.
So whatever they do, I suppose they’ll keep fighting their wars
on nouns and imaginary foes,
that sound daft to us, but do just enough
to mask from their own,
the theft abroad and the great swindle at home.
