We were looking for a clean, fast and well designed easy to use Audio Database / Library. We were not interested in a one-stop-shop-do-everything-confusing-and-bloated-nightmare audio "solution".

CRITERIA

A very good database and audio library.
Must be easy to use and intuitive with a clear and well designed interface.
Must be fast and light on system resources.
Must be able to backup settings and library / database.
Must be able to synchronise directories and auto update the database quickly on start-up and remove non-existent entries.
Mustn't require the installation of any other software (i.e. .NET framework or JAVA) to run.
Mustn't be promoting some commercial service or serve as a marketing tool.
No adware or spyware (obviously)
Not interested in any online lookup services.
Tagging should be possible but not essential (tagging is best done by tagging software).
Good playlist management and creation - dynamic playlists a plus.
Drag and drop to other applications.
Must be able to recognise, play and manage: ACC, OGG, MPC, MP3, FLAC, WavPack, Wav
Good sound quality.
Should be able to record a play history.
Export to Excel, CSV, HTML a plus.
If setup and configuration are time consuming the time spent must be rewarded by performance and utility and thus future time-saving.
