LATENCY

Latency is a time delay between the moment something is initiated, and the moment one or more of its effects are perceived. If there's a delay between what you play and what you hear, playing your instrument well is going to be nigh on impossible. So before recording anything make sure all the software involved is using the soundcard's ASIO drivers where possible (to bypass any Window's latency issues). This is especially the case for any software that is applying real-time effects, such as the Kristal Audio Engine monitoring scenario outlined in the Audio Capture section.
