When recording we recommend recording in 24 bit mono or 32 bit float mono.

If you want a very high sample rate choose 88,200 Hz over 96,000 Hz; as CD or MP3 are (almost always) 16 bit, 44,100 Hz, thus you get less rounding errors when down-sampling from the master. Otherwise we recommend recording and working at 48,000 Hz.
