AUDIO PCs: Background
We wanted very quiet PCs with a good amount of RAM, plenty of disk-space, a fast processor and a high performing soundcard all housed in a good quality case with a reliable power unit. But we didn't have much money.
At the high end, purpose built DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) seemed unnecessarily flashy and over-priced (but tempting); at the low (PC World) end most of the components used were crappy and cheap - designed more for home entertainment and gaming than for digital audio work.
So we began building our own systems; we're glad we did.
Due to the drop in prices of many quality components we can now build PCs that are extremely quiet, fast and reliable and, because it's not our core business (and we're nice), we can offer them only marginally above cost.
